Today on New Music Monday I'm featuring a CD from The Primitive Quartet entitled, "Thank You For The Roses". The Primitive Quartet has been traveling and performing together for many years. They have a huge following coast to coast. Yet I have very seldom aired their music on The Morning Show. Why?
Why? Because they are predominantly a bluegrass group. It was my belief that they didn't quite fit the format. Lately I've come to reevaluate my position on this.
One of the reasons I have begun to think that maybe, perhaps, there is room for groups like the Primitive Quartet on the Morning Show is the way that you have embraced Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. Doyle's latest song "Help Is On The Way" is a seven time winner on King of the Mountain. It's still going strong after knocking off the Kingsmen last week. It's a very good song by one of the legends in Bluegrass music.
The Isaacs have always had a home on the He's Alive Radio Network - they are Bluegrass. Perhaps they made the grade because of their connection with the Bill Gaither Homecoming Tour and Series? I don't know. I do know that I really enjoy their music.
So what do you think? Does Bluegrass music belong on a Southern Gospel Radio station? Cast your vote ( survey box to the right)

How can you mix the two? Southern Gospel music takes talent. You have to be able to sing and sing well. Bluegrass is some kind of hillbilly music that doesn't really belong on the air. Stick with quartets and good singers.
I like Southern Gospel and I like Bluegrass. I like it all as long as it sounds good and is about Jesus. Thanks Tim!
Bluegrass has been the forerunner of several styles of music, both secular and gospel. Southern Gospel is no exception. Southern Gospel is a child of Bluegrass. To say that Bluegrass Gospel does not belong on a Southern Gospel station is to dishonor the parent of Southern Gospel.
I like all kinds of music but don't want to hear a lot of Bluegrass - just once in a while.
I liked your call to Ivan Parker!
I really don't think that Bluegrass belongs on a Southern Gospel station. It just doesn't fit. The banjo and the singing just aren't something that I want to wake up to.
Stay with Southern Gospel!
(I do agree - I liked your call to Ivan Parker)
I don't like BG music. I tune in for SG. I don't like Country so I don't listen to Country. Play SG music and let the BG crowd go somewhere else. The two are miles apart.
What is more Southern Gospel than Blue Grass Gospel. We have to reach the world and the world is listening to radio. "What If" that one person tuned in to Tim and heard Austins Bridge sing History Turned The Page?
We must get out of the box and He's Alive is doing so !! GOD BLESS YOU TIM !! Thank you for all you do for this area with your "mix" of music.
To Thumbs Up !!

"What If" that one person tuned in to Tim and heard Austins Bridge singing, "History Turned The Page"? The world is listening to radio and we must reach the whole world not just us believers. I say keep mixing it up Tim. God is doing a new thing and we should follow His lead.
Press on Tim !! God Bless You !!!
Thanks everyone for your comments - it's great to hear fromyou. What BlueGrass groups do you like?
